Site Development Insurance
On a site job, one claim against your equipment or a missed contract requirement can cost more than the job pays. Not every insurance company writes clearing, grading and paving, so we go to the ones that do, schedule your machines the way they're actually used, and check your contract before the job starts. Call or text about your next bid and talk it through with someone who knows site work.

Heavy civil
Coverage Built for Site Development Work
Site work moves earth, runs heavy iron and changes drainage on someone else's land. Most standard contractor policies exclude this kind of work, so we place it with insurance companies that write heavy civil.
- General liability with explosion, collapse and underground (XCU) coverage
- Contractor's equipment for excavators, dozers, loaders and compactors
- Dump trucks and lowboys hauling your own equipment
- Pollution liability for fuel, runoff and contaminated soil
- Bid, performance and payment bonds
- Workers comp and umbrella limits developers require
Good to Know
Before You Buy
Site work puts heavy equipment, trucks and neighboring property in play at once. We go through each point with you before you sign.
- Equipment. General liability doesn't cover damage to your own equipment, so contractors equipment coverage is usually needed.
- Bonds. Public and larger private projects commonly require performance and payment bonds.
- Trucks. Dump trucks and hauling often need commercial auto with higher limits than a standard policy.
- XCU. Some liability policies exclude explosion, collapse and underground damage. We check for it before you bid.
- Drainage. Changing grades and drainage can lead to water damage claims from neighboring property owners.
- Additional insured. Owners and GCs usually require additional insured status and waiver of subrogation. Both have to be on the policy, not just the certificate.
Pair It With
Gaps Site Contractors Often Miss
Site work needs more than liability. These need their own coverage, and we check for each one when we quote.
The Building Isn't Covered While It Goes Up
Your liability policy doesn't cover the structure under construction. Builders risk does, sized to the project.
Dump Trucks Need the Right Auto Coverage
Hauling often needs commercial auto with higher limits than a standard policy.
Contracts Often Ask for Higher Limits
A commercial umbrella adds a layer above your liability, auto and employers liability, often for less than raising each limit.
Uninsured Subs Can Raise Your Premium
At audit, uninsured subs can be counted as your employees. Collect a certificate from every sub you hire.
Doing Underground Work Too?
Some liability policies limit damage to buried lines. We check for it before you buy.
Bonds for Public and Larger Jobs
Public and larger private projects commonly require performance and payment bonds, and we help with those too.
