Excavation and Grading Insurance
Moving earth means heavy equipment, changed drainage and buried lines, and one claim can cost more than the job pays. We compare insurance companies that write excavation work, check for underground and collapse exclusions, and schedule your machines the way you actually use them. Call or text about your next bid and talk it through with someone who knows site work.

Good to Know
Before You Buy
Excavation puts the ground, nearby property and buried lines all at risk. We check each one with you before you sign.
- XCU. Some liability policies exclude explosion, collapse and underground damage, often called XCU, so it's worth checking.
- Equipment. General liability doesn't cover your own excavators and dozers, so contractors equipment coverage is usually needed.
- Drainage. Changing drainage on a site can lead to water damage claims from neighboring property owners.
- Rented machines. Rented and leased machines can often be included, along with the rental agreement's requirements.
- Trucks and trailers. Dump trucks and lowboys need commercial auto, often with higher limits than a standard policy.
- Bonds. Public and larger private projects commonly require performance and payment bonds.
Pair It With
Gaps Excavation & Grading Contractors Often Miss
Liability is only the start. These need their own coverage, and we check for each one when we quote.
Doing Full Site Development?
If you clear, grade and pave as well, your liability and equipment coverage need to reflect all of it.
Doing Utility Work Too?
Trenching and open-cut utility work carry their own risks. We make sure your policy reflects all the work you do.
Work Trucks Need Commercial Auto
Personal auto usually excludes vehicles used mainly for business. Commercial auto covers your trucks and the people who drive them.
Contracts Often Ask for Higher Limits
A commercial umbrella adds a layer above your liability, auto and employers liability, often for less than raising each limit.
Pollution Is Usually Excluded
Many liability policies exclude pollution, so a contractors pollution policy may be needed for the work you do.
Bonds for Public and Larger Jobs
Public and larger private projects commonly require performance and payment bonds, and we help with those too.

Are rented machines covered?
Contractors equipment coverage can include rented and leased machines, plus the rental agreement's requirements.
Do I need pollution coverage?
