Commercial Auto Insurance

Personal auto policies usually exclude vehicles used mainly for business, a gap many owners don't see until there's a claim. We compare commercial auto from several companies for cars, vans, pickups and box trucks, make sure every vehicle and driver is listed right, and check whether you need coverage for employees who drive their own cars for work. Call or text and tell us what you drive.

What It Covers

What Commercial Auto Includes

Exact coverage depends on the policy and the insurance company. We walk you through yours before you buy.

  • Liability for injuries and damage your vehicles cause
  • Physical damage to your vehicles
  • Uninsured and underinsured motorist
  • Medical payments
  • Rentals and employees' own cars used for work

Good to Know

Before You Buy

Who drives, what you drive and how each vehicle is titled all shape your policy. We go through each point with you before you buy.

  • Titled vehicles. Vehicles titled to the business usually need a commercial policy.
  • Employee cars. Hired and non-owned auto coverage protects the business when employees run errands in their own cars.
  • Driver records. Driver records affect price, so it helps to review who's listed before you buy.
  • Liability limits. Contracts often ask for $1 million in auto liability. Many state minimums are far lower.
  • Tools and equipment. Tools and equipment in a vehicle usually aren't covered by auto. They need equipment coverage of their own.
  • Heavy trucks. Heavy trucks and hauling for hire are a separate market, covered on our Trucking page.
