Professional Liability Insurance
A client can claim you made a mistake even when you did nothing wrong, and defending it can cost more than the job ever paid. We compare policies written for your profession, check client contracts for required limits, and explain retro dates and tail coverage so changing policies doesn't catch you off guard. Call or text and talk it through with someone who will read your contract.

What It Covers
What Professional Liability Includes
Exact coverage depends on the policy and the insurance company. We walk you through yours before you buy.
- Claims of errors, omissions or negligent advice
- Missed deadlines or work that didn't meet the contract
- Legal defense, even when the claim has no merit
- Covered settlements and judgments
Good to Know
Before You Buy
Professional liability works differently from most business policies, and timing matters. We go through each rule with you before you buy.
- Claims-made. Most professional liability policies are claims-made, so the policy in force when the claim is made is the one that responds.
- Retroactive date. A retroactive date sets how far back covered work can go, so keeping coverage continuous matters.
- The liability gap. General liability usually excludes professional services. This policy is built to fill that gap.
- Required amounts. Some contracts and licenses require a set amount of professional liability. Send them over and we'll match the limit.
- Defense costs. Some policies pay legal defense inside the limit, which leaves less for a settlement. We show you how yours is written.
- Tail coverage. If you retire, sell or close, extended reporting coverage can protect past work. It's usually arranged when the policy ends.
Pair It With
Gaps Professionals Often Miss
Professional liability covers your advice and work. These need their own coverage, and we check for each one when we quote.
Slip and Falls Aren't Professional Claims
A client hurt at your office needs general liability, not professional liability.
Client Data Needs Cyber Coverage
If you store client information, a breach usually falls under cyber, not professional liability.
Your Office and Equipment Need Coverage
A business owners policy can protect your space, equipment and general liability together.
Hiring? Workers Comp Comes Next
Most states require workers comp once you have employees.
Partners Need a Funded Buy-Sell
If a partner passes away, life insurance is often how the agreement gets paid for.
Your Business Depends on Key People
If losing one person would hurt sales or operations, key person coverage gives the business money to recruit and keep going.
