Renters & Condo Insurance
Your landlord's or association's policy covers the building, not your belongings or your liability, and that gap surprises a lot of people after a loss. For condos we read the association's master policy first, so your own policy fills what it leaves out. A quick call or text is usually all it takes.

What It Covers
What Renters & Condo Coverage Includes
Exact coverage depends on the policy and the insurance company. We walk you through yours before you buy.
- Your belongings, at home or away
- Liability if someone is hurt in your unit
- Extra living costs if a covered loss forces you out
- For condo owners, the walls, floors and fixtures your association doesn't cover (HO-6)
Good to Know
Before You Buy
Renters and condo policies fill different gaps, and the right setup depends on your lease or your association. We review each detail with you.
- Liability. Renters insurance usually includes liability if someone is hurt in your home. It can also help if you accidentally damage the building.
- Lease requirements. Many landlords require renters insurance in the lease, sometimes with a set liability limit. Send us the lease and we'll match it.
- Walls and fixtures. Condo owners may be responsible for interior walls, floors and fixtures, depending on the association's master policy. We read the master policy before we set your limit.
- Loss assessment. Loss assessment coverage can help if the association charges owners for a covered loss.
- Your belongings. Choose replacement cost on your belongings when you can. Actual cash value pays less for older items.
- Temporary housing. Most policies help pay extra living costs if a covered loss forces you out. Check the limit and how long it lasts.

Gaps Renters and Condo Owners Often Miss
Your policy leaves these out. We check for every one of them when we quote, and most take only a few more answers.
Flood Isn't Covered by Renters or Condo Policies
Your belongings and unit improvements need a separate flood policy, even outside high-risk zones.
Renters and Auto, Priced Both Ways
Some companies give a discount when both are with them, others don't. We price them together and separately so you can compare.
A Lawsuit Can Be Bigger Than Your Limits
A guest hurt in your unit can lead to a claim above your limits. An umbrella adds protection on top.
A Business Run From Home Usually Isn't Covered
A side business, freelance work or an online shop needs its own coverage, since home policies limit business equipment and exclude business liability.
Your Family Depends on Your Income
If something happened to you, term life helps your family keep up with the bills for the years they need it most.
