Why use an independent agency?
A captive agent can only sell one company's policies. We work with several insurance companies, so when one raises your rate or won't write your trucks, we can take you somewhere else without you starting over.
How fast can I get a certificate?
Most certificate requests go out the same business day. Send the certificate holder's name and address and any wording the job requires.
My home insurance company dropped me. Can you help?
Yes. We work with several home insurers in each state we serve, so we can usually find another option. Send us your current declarations page and the non-renewal letter and we'll start shopping.
Can I bundle my home, auto and business?
We can quote them together. A bundle discount only applies when policies are with the same insurance company, and it varies by company and state, so we price both ways. We can review your business coverage at the same time.
Does requesting a quote mean I'm covered?
No. A quote request doesn't put coverage in place. Coverage starts only once the insurance company binds the policy, and binding requirements and timing vary by insurance company.

Good to Know
Before You Buy
Your first policy has to satisfy the FMCSA and the brokers you plan to haul for. We go through each requirement with you before you apply.
- Filing first. FMCSA requires proof of insurance on file before your operating authority becomes active. Start the quote as soon as you apply.
- First years. New authorities often pay more for the first few years, until they build a safety and claims record.
- Broker waiting periods. Some brokers won't load a carrier until its authority has been active for a set number of days.
- Broker limits. Many brokers ask for $1,000,000 in liability and cargo coverage, often $100,000, above the federal minimum.
- Driver experience. Insurance companies look closely at commercial driving experience. Have your CDL history and driving record ready when you quote.
- Down payment. New authority policies often need a larger down payment. Plan for it before your start date.

Can I get a quote before my authority is active?
Yes, and you should. FMCSA won't activate your authority until your insurance filing is on record, so start the quote as soon as you apply.
Why is insurance so expensive for new authorities?
Insurance companies have no history on a new company, so they price for the unknown. Experienced drivers, clean MVRs, a shorter radius and lower-risk commodities all help. Rates usually improve after one to two clean years.
I only haul inside one state. Do I still need this?
Intrastate carriers follow their state's filing rules, which differ from FMCSA's. Tell us where you run and what you haul and we'll confirm what applies to you.

- Liability minimums. For most interstate for-hire freight carriers, the federal minimum liability is $750,000 for vehicles of 10,001 pounds or more and $300,000 for lighter vehicles. Many brokers ask for $1,000,000.
- Cargo. Cargo coverage isn't federally required for most freight, but most brokers and shippers require it, often $100,000.
- Drivers. Insurance companies look closely at driver records and experience, especially for new authorities.

What filings does my trucking policy need?
Interstate for-hire carriers need proof of insurance filed with FMCSA, and some states require their own filings. The insurance company files them, and we make sure they're requested when the policy is bound.
How much cargo coverage do I need?

What's the difference between a BOP and general liability?
General liability covers injuries and damage you cause to others. A BOP packages that liability with property and business income coverage, often for less than buying them separately, if your business qualifies.
Why do you ask for my lease or contracts?
Leases and contracts often set your limits, additional insured wording and waiver requirements. We read them before we quote so your policy matches what you signed.
What happens at a premium audit?
